In a proactive measure, the Department
has announced a special package for Jammu & Kashmir state for strengthening
Science and Technology education and research at a total budgetary provision of
about Rs. 60 crore for 5 years.The package focuses the following:
Support
to 35nos. Colleges [Jammu - 15 nos. & Kashmir - 20 nos.] (NAAC
Accredited & University Affiliated) upto Rs 50 Lakh for 5 years (Rs 20 Lakh
for first 2 years & Rs 30 Lakh for next 3 years on review of Progress)
Visiting Professorship
at University Total 50 nos in 5 years Eminent Persons from other
Institute/ University outside Jammu & Kashmir will be supported as Visiting
Professors to seven universities in J&K for 2 months each.
Visiting
Students Fellowship to Universities outside J&K State Visiting
Student Fellowships to Ph.D. students for 3 months will be offered for carrying
out research work on short-term basis outside J&K state and anywhere in the
country. University of Jammu and University of Kashmir will be allocated Rs. 1.5
crores each in the 1st year to begin with so that each University can take care
the need of the universities in their respective region.
Visiting Faculty Fellowship to Universities outside J&K
State 200 Man-months support in 5 years duration to the Young faculty
members of these universities for carrying out research work outside J&K state
and elsewhere in the country.
Support
to each University for Teaching Facility To extend support to each
University (as Unit) up to Rs 1.5 crores for teaching related support (not for
research activity).
Stabilized
Power Supply Facility One time support up to Rs 50 lakh to each
University would be provided to overcome the problem related to quality of the
Power (not generation of Power) for ensuring quality & uninterrupted supply
of electricity to the research laboratories of the departments along with as a
special case one time support of Rs 1.0 crore will also be provided to BGSBU,
Rajouri for internet connectivity and campus networking purposes.
Major
Facility Support For creating Centre with Major Facilities in a
consortium model for Quality Research purposes.
Summer
School / Winter School for PG Students For organizing Summer and
Winter Schools for post-graduate and PhD students in next three years.
Focused R&D Support R&D proposals
which are relevant to the State, either from an individual or consortium mode
shall also be considered for support.
